How do I know I'll get my car?

Look at it this way. It's not in 'VIC's' best interests to cheat you. To do so would almost certainly mean the end of the business that's taken so much effort and hard work into setting up. Ask for our reference list!.
It seems to us, that to have you, as a happy, satisfied client, who will tell their friends and relatives about the excellent vehicle you imported through VIC and at such a good price too, is a far better recipe for a successful business..... Also, it's nice to be able to sleep at night!.
Remember folks, if you have serious doubts about any person, business or organisation, do NOT let them get their hands on your money, this include us at 'Vehicle Import Consultants'.

Once you've decided on your choice of vehicle, fax or e-mail us confirmation of your decision. A good faith deposit of 10% of the estimated landed cost of your vehicle is payable at this time. Deposits can be by cheque or direct credit, just fax a copy of the deposit slip & we'll instruct our buyer to commence the search for your vehicle.
Deposits are refundable if we are unable to source a vehicle that matches your request form specifications within 60 days. All monies received are acknowledged via email, hard copy receipts upon request ... see side bar for our postal details. Bank a/c details under "Payment Options"
Once we have purchased your vehicle, we'll confirm with you that it meets your
Request Form
specifications. We'll also provide you with details on where to TT the F.O.B, C&F or CIF costs. Any bank and some other financial institutions can handle TT (telegraphic transfer) transactions. Ask them to remit the NZ dollar equivalent of the F.O.B cost (always shown in Japanese ¥en) to our buyer's account in Japan. Please keep your copy of he TT,
(it's your proof of payment, keep it safe). Fax us a copy of the TT receipt ASAP as vehicles can't be shipped until we can show that the F.O.B costs have been met.

Shipping times can take anything from 3 weeks (normal) to 8 weeks to reach NZ, however it has been known for them to take longer. Longer times usually mean there's ship out of service or Japan is having one of it's famous long holiday breaks.

Almost nothing, we'll fax you a Customs client code form, just fill it in and return it to (NZ Customs. P.O.Box 29 Auckland 1), along with some form of ID, i.e., a photocopy of your D/license, B/cert etc., and that's about it, apart from signing for your vehicle when you collect it, there's almost nothing else for you to do, we take care of it all..
How will I know when my car has arrived?

You'll be contacted by our customs broker or VIC when your vehicle is due to arrive. At this point you'll need to settle up with our customs brokers for the remaining costs, i.e. freight, MAF, GST and of course their costs.
We strongly recommend that payment be made by bank cheque or direct credit. Saves waiting an extra 5 days for a personal cheque to clear. You'll get your car almost a week sooner and avoid demurrage costs.

F.O.B means 'free on board', it's the all up cost of the vehicle to the point where it is put on board ship in Japan bound for NZ. Included, are the vehicle purchase cost, auction fee, trans- port & handling within Japan, de-registration and document processing fees and the export agents fee. C&F is same as FOB but with the freight pre-paid.CIF is FOB costs plus marine insurance.

The landed cost is made up of the either F.O.B, C&F or CIF costs (see above) plus the importing costs, these usually include, freight, GST, MAF inspection fees, NZ customs inspection fee and customs agents/brokers fee. You may also be liable for steam cleaning costs, this is at the discretion of MAF.
On road costs such as NZLTSA compliance check, VINing, ISI, WOF (allow $600~$650) and registration costs of $300,
for an average car, are not included in the landed Price. Please Note!, some pre 1991 vehicles may need new seat belts fitted at additional cost.

While we attempt at all times to be accurate when quoting a landed price, there are times when matters beyond our control, such as currency fluctuations, changes in shipping costs etc., may cause the actual price to differ slightly from that which was quoted.

To get you an accurate quote, we require that you fill out a
Request Form
, please complete all fields, thanks. All enquiries for prices or availability on this form thanks. Our buyers in Japan are extremely busy people, who will not thank us for wasting their time. So please no tyre kickers or time wasters, thanks. This service is for those who are serious about importing their own vehicle(s) and who have their finances arranged in advance. We are currently negotiating with a finance company and we hope to be able to offer finance soon.
If you've got a question, then by all means Contact Us
and we'll do our best to answer your query, but please do not make enquiries for prices via this link.
Our Current Stock
page has a list of vehicles for sale (all ex Japan) these cars represent excellent value and have all been hand selected. Vehicles listed here seldom last long, so if you see something of interest, get in quick.
In most cases, the vehicles we arrange for import, are purchased on the clients behalf, 'strictly to specification'. i.e. our experienced buyers search out the exact, year, make, model, colour, variant etc. as requested.
So if you have a itch for something oriental or occidental, let VIC help you scratch it

Most imports on NZ car yards, are category 'D' (no warranty) vehicles.... Vehicle Import Consultants likewise do not warrant vehicles either. However it's worth remembering, that our buyers are professionals and in the course of a year buy literally hundreds of cars. Foisting a hacked together junker onto you, is not in either our buyers nor our best interests.
Our buyers take great care with the vehicles they supply, their livelihood, and mine, depends on their skill and honesty in assessing vehicles.
On the other hand, by sourcing you a quality vehicle, at a good price, both our buyer and VIC can reasonably hope, that you'll refer this service to your friends and families, then if we're really lucky, we may get a repeat order from you!.now that would be nice!.
Is there anyway I can check VIC out?

We are always happy to supply references. Many clients have been kind enough to allow their email address or phone number to go on our references list, please ask for it. Feel free to contact these previous clients directly, get their thoughts regarding the integrity, honesty and the quality of the vehicles they've imported through our service.
ALL THE BEST WITH YOUR DECISION!...............Pete Harding
